28 Sep. Campuses of the Century seminar in Jyväskylä and Finland 100 walking tours of the newly renovated, Alvar Aalto-designed Capitolium building, which serves as the main building of the University of Jyväskylä.

23 Sep. The Dentopolis building was commissioned on the Kontinkangas campus in Oulu. Prime Minister Juha Sipilä attended the occasion.

SYK’s office on the Hervanta campus moved from the Kampusareena building to the Tietotalo building.

Kampusklubi entered its third year of operation

A parcel of land was sold to Joensuun Elli, a student housing company in Joensuu.

15 Jun. The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, the Ministry of the Environment, the Energy Authority and Motiva awarded businesses and municipalities for successful and exemplary performance in the area of energy efficiency during the period 2008–2016. University Properties of Finland Ltd received an honourable mention in the property business category for its work related to improving energy efficiency.

16 May Topping out ceremony held at the Medisiina D building in Turku.

SYK launched a blog at blogi.sykoy.fi, with the first blog post written by CEO Mauno Sievänen.

23 May Responsible operators – sustainable campuses, an invitation-only event for university executives. The participants discussed ideas for sustainable campuses and heard remarks from guest speaker Martin Townsend, an expert from the BREEAM organisation.

10 Mar. The newly constructed Ruusupuisto building in Jyväskylä achieved environmental certification: BREEAM International Bespoke 2010 Final Certificate: Very Good.

14 Mar. The newly constructed Medisiina D building in Turku achieved environmental certification: BREEAM International 2013 Interim Certificate: Very Good.

17 Feb. Topping out ceremony held at the Metria building in Joensuu.

1 Feb. Samuel Koivisto was appointed Director, Customer Relations and Services, and a member of the Executive Board.
