In 2020, the coronavirus pandemic forced us to change how we meet, develop and use our facilities. Like other organisations, SYK switched to operating digitally in a multi-location working environment.
Despite the exceptional situation, 2020 was a time of renewal for SYK. The company approved its strategy for 2021–2023, and the aim of operations is to be the best campus partner. During the year, the organisation was also reformed to correspond to this aim. Internal operations are based on the new values that were worked out during the autumn: Shared responsibility, Speaking up and listening, and The right attitude.
Our average score in the customer satisfaction survey was 3.7 on a scale of 1 to 5. Our scores improved from the previous year in customer relationship management, property management and maintenance, and facility development.
We are responsible for providing our customers with appropriate and safe operating premises. Our goal is to own the most responsible campuses in Europe by 2030. We move towards this goal by working in the fields of environmental, financial and social responsibility.
During 2020, the development of our campuses was at the core of our business. Significant commissioning of renovated premises took place, for example, in Oulu and Turku.
We own and develop university campus properties outside the Helsinki metropolitan area. We produce and provide our customers with cost-effective facilities that suit their needs. Our customers are universities, higher education institutions and research institutes as well as businesses.
